When we got Pepper as a puppy, we couldn't decide if we should call her Pepper or Nutmeg. We allowed her to show us who she was, and sure enough, she's a Pepper! Our kids just love her and they just can't resist hugging her constantly and petting her thick, furry coat.

From what we've learned, this breed is relatively new in North America, but better known in Europe. It was my dad who told me about the Eurasier. He was born and raised in Germany and he had one when he was growing up there in the 60's. After hearing him tell us so many stories about his dog and their escapades, I decided our family should have one, too. What really won us over were the breed's looks, its sweet nature, and their even temperament.

True to the stories my dad told, we can take Pepper on just about any journey to any destination. We're true adventurers--everything from camping out in the desert to a day at the beach or a hike up into the mountains. It doesn't matter where we go, Pepper's doing it with us. One of the things that I like about this breed of dog is that they don't really bark unless there's an actual reason. This is a good thing if you stop and think about it. How many times has a yappy dog camping at the next site over ruined your vacation?

Pepper is so well behaved and she's such an attractive dog that she becomes the center of attraction because of her beautiful looks. We've made a lot of friends and met a lot of interesting folks because of her uniqueness.

On those rare adventures where she can't join us--such as our Hawaiian vacations-- grandma and grandpa are happy to have her as their houseguest. The bad part about that is when we get back home, we usually pay the price for leaving her there, because my dad has spoiled her rotten. She certainly brightens up his life. Well, just look at her face, who wouldn't be fond of this dog?
