German Pinscher

These are the future parents of my Pinscher! I'm on a waiting list for a pup from their next litter. I've been following this breed for some time, and though they are not very common in the US, they are becoming more popular. I found this pair with champion bloodlines at a breeder in Australia when we vacationed there a couple of years ago.
Like all Pinschers, they are highly intelligent and clown princes. I don't know how the goofiness was bred into these dogs, but they can act so silly at times. I've watched these two 'perform' their antics for an hour or more before they became bored and headed off to play other games. I'm looking forward to having my own clown - I can hardly wait!
Sometimes people ask me if I'm afraid of having a Pinscher. Of course, they associate any Pinscher with guard dogs and have the misconception that they are aggressive, if not outright vicious. Nothing could be further from the truth. These are wonderful, playful dogs that can fit into any family. They love kids and seem to enjoy performing for them most of all, maybe because they're an easy crowd to please. They are protective, but really no more so than most dogs.
They can become bored with repetitive games, which has to do with their intelligence and their need for mental stimulation. Honestly, even I need that and I'm not all that intelligent! I'm still thinking about what to name my Pinscher. I may wait and see what kind of personality he displays before choosing. But one thing is for sure: the waiting and anticipation is killing me!!
