Japanese Chin

I'm not your normal 'toy'. I'm by far the most obedient of all the toy dogs, at least that's what they say about me. I just like doing what I'm told and watch how that pleases my owner. I really get a kick out of their little pats on my head and "that's a good girl" encouragement. My owner can be so cute sometimes.

Oh, by the way, my name is Elsie. Not my favorite name but you know kids don't get to choose their names. Speaking of kids, they're not my favorite either. Those grating voices! I don't know; their snotty noses and crying all the time kind of sets me on edge. Not to mention that they have a tendency to pull my hair and take my toys. Plus I don't like it when they get all of the attention. I deserve center stage all the time.

People just love to give me attention. I can handle that. "She's so cute" or "Can I hold her?"-- well, I hear those sorts of things alot. But you know what? There's more to me than just cute looks. I'm a pretty smart cookie and a quick learner. Of course, I have found that when I want something, like a treat, the cuteness will get it sooner than the intelligent look will, every time.

Now the next time you see me hustling down the sidewalk at the end of a leash, stop me and say hello. Tell my owner how you just adore me and wish you had a little toy like me and that she's so lucky. That'll really stroke my owner's ego. It'll make me feel pretty special, as well.
