Heater, as I call him, has been a lifesaver for me, and I'll tell you why. I live in a remote part of the country and suffer from arthritis in my neck from an auto accident that I had several years ago.
Since then, I suffer chronic pain in my neck and upper spine. Medication helps but the painkillers really make me drowsy. I can reduce the amount I take by keeping a heating pad on my neck to keep it warm. That's where Heater comes in.
He has no hair at all, which actually looks and feels a little strange. But his body acts as a heater and he likes lying around my neck and shoulders. No extension cords or plug needed! He's a great companion and really has a neat personality. Part of of his nature is his eagerness to please, although I think he was so quick to lie on my neck because it gave him such a good view of the TV. He has his favorite shows and if I change the channel to something else, he'll jump down and occupy himself with other activities. If I turn his show back on, he quickly returns to his favorite spot - my neck. It's my favorite spot too!
Now just so you don't think I'm using him unjustly, there are plenty of hot summer days that I keep him cool and well protected from the sun. With no fur, he can get a sunburn just like we can. Our needs are very different but our love for each other is the same.
