Whippet

What's my Whippet's most favorite place in the world? The Bill Archer Bark Park in Houston, Texas. I take my kids out with our Whippet, Laney, to this 35-acre dog park nearly every day. Generally, Laney is a quiet and gentle dog UNTIL we get to the Bark Park! He goes absolutely nuts when he gets out there. It's probably the effect the whole environment has on him--lots of other dogs, agility equipment, wide-open spaces, lots of playing around, etc. We have a blast and it's why we go there so often. Laney gets to do his thing to the ultimate degree. As they say in Vegas, What Happens Here, Stays Here!
When Laney is not at the Bark Park, he is content to spend most of the day resting and is happiest when he's indoors close to us. Because he's a quiet dog when he's home and tons of fun when we take him out for play, he's perfect for our family. Laney is so attached to us that he hates to be left outside if we're at home, even for five minutes, and boy, does he ever express his grief. So we do what we can to be sure someone's around for him. In fact, we hire a dog sitter when we can't take him on vacations. I really can't think of a better breed for an active family.
